MOT EXTENSION BECAREFUL, PLEASE READ

IMPORTANT INFORMATION REGARDING NEW MOT EXTENSION (PLEASE READ ESPECIALLY THE LAST BIT OF INFORMATION)!!!!

From 30 March 2020, MOT due dates for cars, motorcycles and light vans will be extended by 6 months.

IMPORTANT: If your MOT is due BEFORE March 30th, the expiry date will not be extended. Please read the governments advice if your MOT is due before March 30th and you or someone you live with is ill.

WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR YOU?
If your vehicle’s MOT expiry date is on or after 30th March 2020, you will automatically be given a 6 month extension. You do not need to do anything, but it is important that in the meantime your vehicle is kept safe to drive.
Example: If your MOT due date was on 20th April 2020, it has now changed to 20th October 2020 and you will need to get your MOT by this date.
DESPITE THE 6-MONTH EXTENSION, MOTS CAN STILL BE CARRIED OUT
It has been confirmed that MOTs and routine servicing can still go ahead during this 6 month exemption period.
We would encourage all key workers and motorists using their cars for essential travel at the moment, who are not sure how safe their vehicle is, to book their car in for an MOT and/or service.

VERY IMPORTANT

CHECK YOUR VEHICLE IS SAFE TO DRIVE
You’re responsible for making sure your vehicle is always safe to drive (roadworthy).

YOU CAN BE fined up to £2,500, be banned from driving and get 3 penalty points for driving a vehicle in a dangerous condition.
